Art Deco style floor tile designs

Geometry is the defining language of Art Deco tile design, which flourished through the 1920s and 1930s with bold, large-scale repeating shapes that give a floor real presence. Most of our Art Deco designs are built from a small number of contrasting colours, often using just two to create a clearly defined pattern.

A characteristic of the era's patterns is their larger geometric forms and repeats, which can be composed and scaled using our range of shapes and sizes. 50mm and 70mm tiles are the most popular for bold, large-format patterns, while a smaller honeycomb hexagonal tile softens the geometry into more floral, delicate motifs. Borders stay understated, often a simple three-line border, so the drama remains in the field itself.

Edwardian designs tend to use an earthy colour palette of red, brown, coffee, cognac, black, grey and white. Designs in the Edwardian period were simpler than the decorative Victorian patterns, using larger tile sizes and basic border patterns.
